Asks 5/17/12

Sorry I always end up procrastinating on answering these! Usually I respond to non-anon asks very quickly so that’s a good way to get a hold of me. Sailor Moon pic under the cut!

Anonymous asks & TMI Tuesday!

Clearing out my ask box with anonymous questions so I’m ready for a TMI Tuesday! Send questions over to my askbox and I’ll actually respond to anon asks in a day instead of like two weeks, lmao. As always, reserving the right to refuse to answer questions that are too personal.

  1. You must have met my awesome friend Evan, who was helping me out this weekend! And I was probably in the bathroom! Or most likely I was just behind the table on the other side, hiding behind the posters, eating…….. sorry you missed me!
  2. Sorry, I have no idea what the name of the vendor that I bought the alpaca off of….. though it’s not the real Japanese brand of Arpacasso plush, they’re a Chinese knockoff… and I got him for $12~
  3. Thank you Anon…! ;w; You are beautiful too!!
  4. My buttons are 1.25” diameter.
  5. I’m sure you mean draw Sailor Moon instead of doing her, but I digress — I’m not actually really into Sailor Moon…. it wasn’t a huge part of my growing up as much as franchises like Totoro/Ghibli films, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Digimon…. and considering illustrations do take a massive amount of time commitment, I’m not really willing to draw stuff I don’t care passionately for. :( So probably you won’t see any Sailor Moon stuff from me!

fan art vs original?

Basically lately the only thing I’ve wanted to draw is fan art, and tons of it, and I keep holding myself back because for some reason recently I’ve felt such a huge stigma on drawing fan art vs. creating original work. A lot of artists feel a need to establish a hierarchy of original art being far “better” than fan art just because of the extra thinking involved… I mean don’t get me wrong, I love creating original things (I have so many things to share, just not yet….!) and do original designs all the time (lol sorry NDAs) but drawing fan art is what makes me really happy!!

This is one of the reasons why I didn’t continue with my Pokemon comic featuring Terri and Torrin because the whole thing is just one giant piece of fan art. 8( Even though I REALLY want to draw the whole thing I scripted (~120 pages!!)

hnggggggg thoughts?

mainichi-haru asked:

what happened to your digimon sites?

Sorry I took so long to answer —

I’ve gotten this one a lot so I’ll answer publicly for once!
My original Digimon story, Digital Hazard, was going to be a Digimon story based inside an MMO game (their version of a “Digital World”) and I actually drew the first 4 pages of the comic until I realized that:

1. I suck at drawing Digimon;
2. If I was to draw a longstanding comic I’d want it to be entirely original, and:
3. My skills at that point in time were so shoddy that I didn’t even understand perspective and basically I stopped myself from going further.

I still really like the story and would love to write it, but I also got criticized a lot for having a story so similar to .hack//SIGN (which I’ve seen a few episodes of but not nearly enough to understand the similarity; the only similarity I know of is that they’re both based on MMOs, but as far as I know, the mechanics are entirely entirely different.)

If you’re wondering about my OLD OLD Finnimon site, that’s long gone. 8D I was hoping Geoshitties would hurry up and delete that, I’m sooo embarrassed to have been such a huge Digimon weeaboo mary sue fangirl who wrote self pairings and TyPeD lyK diS. Please don’t hurt me, I was 11-12 years old when I made those websites.

Hope that explains everything!
